We are living in a surreal and unprecedented moment in time.........
Firstly, I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well during this unbelievable situation. It was rather emotional shutting up the shop last Monday but the emails and messages of support I received from members was overwhelming and I knew it was the right thing to do. Since then, the situation became all the more serious as we entered the lockdown....
This weekend would usually mark the start of the golf season with our Opening Texas Scramble on Sunday. I would normally be running around like a headless chicken getting the Pro Shop prepared, getting the new stock all sorted, giving some refresher lessons to golfers, getting the trolleys and buggies spring cleaned and getting ready to welcome the golfers coming out of hibernation as the golf season gets underway....
Sadly, its a completely different scenario and not one I could have dreamt up (regardless of how vivid my imagination can be at times). As I write this email, I'm currently sat in my makeshift office at home (the bed), the Pro Shop is all locked up, the new golf equipment, clothing and shoes all hidden behind the shutters waiting patiently for the lockdown to be lifted....
I know I'm not alone, this pandemic is affecting every one of us, whether the virus has affected you, one of your family and friends, or financially due to the effects of the governments attempts to 'flatten the curve' to limit the number of people requiring the services of the NHS.
Without trying to sound like a politician 'We are all in this together' and I'm confident that once the dust settles, life will get back to some sort of normal...
We'd like to keep in touch (from a distance).....
We'd like to stay in touch with you via email, possibly more regularly than we normally would. With the shop being closed, it means no customers, which means the opportunity for me to generate sales and income has also disappeared temporarily. So whilst you can't visit the Pro Shop in person, we thought we could bring the Pro Shop to you.
Over the next wee while I will send out some emails with some special offers and promotions on items I have in stock at the moment. It will hopefully be a 'win-win' situation as you will have the opportunity to purchase a 'special offer' and I can generate some much needed income......(payment would be by either BACS or Paypal and the items would then be collected once the shop re-opens)
I also thought it might be a good idea, to run a few competitions/raffle/quizzes via the emails to help keep you entertained throughout the lockdown...
